Memorial Day

Kevin, Tater Tot and I drove down to Los Altos where CalChins had organized a free Chinchilla Health Day at a local veterinarian office. Unfortunately the vet told us Tater Tot had a heart murmer :-( There isn't anything that can really be done about that so I'll just have to continue spoiling her even more.

House Warming Party

Picture: Tony enjoying the hell out of Charity's homemade cheesecake.

A good crew of friends showed up to warm the house this past weekend. We set up camp in the shared backyard to grill and play some ladder golf. Jiri christened his new jumbo toolbox grill-- Happy Birthday! We even broke out Mandy's fire-pit.

Later we finally went inside for some Rock Band play. Unfortunately the downstairs neighbor wasn't having as much fun as we were and had to stop after a couple hours. Aside from that it was a really fun night, made even better knowing we didn't have to go to work on Monday!

Bay to Breakers 2008

Another fun Bay to Breakers with so many great memories, already forgotten. This year's theme involved super hero beer pong players dressed in capes, sparkly head and wrist bands, red beer cup nut cups, and the best-ever portable beer pong table (made by Tony) on a shopping cart with a trap door for accessing beer. We started at Baker and Fell street and eventually made our way into the park, making stops to play flip cup with random revelers.

Britch's Wedding

Gorgeous weather set the tone for a beautiful wedding at Mission Ranch in Carmel. Rich and Bree are the most amazing match and it was an honor to be at their wedding. We miss you guys! Move back to San Francisco!

Check out their fancy footwork!

Kevin and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Yari, the boston terrier. He was born April 4, 2008. He's 4 weeks old in the picture. More pictures (under kennel name "Brody").

Detroit Wedding

May 2 - 4, 2008
Kevin and I made a stop at Fleetwood diner before heading out of Ann Arbor. It was great to have some hippie hash again. We were also reminded that you can still smoke inside restaurants. It wouldn't have been the same without the smoke anyway.

The wedding was at a church in Detroit. We drove by all these beautiful mansions on the way to the church. We were surprised to learn you could buy them for the same price you might be able to find a studio apartment in San Francisco.

The wedding went on without a hitch and we all enjoyed the festivities at the reception on Belle Isle. Note to self: Don't forget your purse in the restroom!

Ann Arbor Visit - Day 1 & 2

This post is dedicated to Jocelyn who somehow manages to find the time to keep her blog up-to-date, raise a beautiful, little girl and work full-time.

After a tiring red-eye flight into Detroit I took a nostalgic tour of Ann Arbor. I stirred up the memories driving past 1011 Vaughn, Sgt. Pepper's (which isn't Sgt. Pepper's anymore), and the Zet (sp? and which also isn't the Zet anymore). I continued up and down Church St. and to Joint Co-op. This was my neighborhood for about 3 years.

With a stomach full of falafel and lentil soup from Jerusalem Gardens, I strolled along Liberty Street to State to East U. It amazed how much smaller this stretch of campus seemed to me now.

I worked my way to Heavenly Metal in Kerrytown and surprised Vicki and Lucy with a visit.

With lots of daylight left I was able to follow Gwen and Jocelyn on a tour of their beautiful property. Gwen kept us highly entertained with her photography skills! Jocelyn showed me their massive garden plot and new trails.

Kevin arrived the next day and after he took a quick nap we ate lunch at Pizza House. It's no longer a house but rather a 2 story brick building! Same menu though and I ordered a chipati, well, actually a chipopeye. I gave Kevin a quick tour of Ann Arbor, even dropping by the stadium which was closed due to construction.

We then took a leisurely stroll through the Arb.
Everything was so lusciously green! Kevin was weary from the red-eye flight, we found a bench by the river to relax.

Afterwards we went to Dominick's where Jocelyn and Gwen met us. It's always a favorite destination and was fun to taste the sangria again! Also, having Gwen and Kevin there made it a new experience. We all finished the night with dinner at Zingerman's Roadhouse with Jacob.
